Whether you’re young or old, when you hear the word “THRILLER” the first few things that come to mind is Michael Jackson and dancing zombies. If you grew up in the 80’s, 90’s and even to the present day, this iconic music video or song has become a big part of your childhood and pop culture. Thriller has become the unofficial anthem for anything that deals with Halloween. With either people dressing up like zombies, trying to imitate Michael, or just following the choreographed dance moves from the music video, we’ve all at some point in our lives got the “Thriller” fever.
News was released by the New York Daily that the “Thriller” 14 minute long music video made back in 1983, will be remastered in 3D. The original Director John Landis has been working on a project of bringing this iconic music video to theaters and Blu-Ray in 2015. Landis says it’s going to be “highly polished and three-dimensional.” This should cause some excitement for you the die hard Michael fans, looking forward to seeing this mini movie on the big screen.
After a very long dispute with Jackson’s estate, Landis finally gets the rights and funding to further expand the Thriller brand. Even the estate plans on doing a game inspired by the music video, such as a dance experience or zombie shoot-em-up-style movie. You have to wonder if the release will be in time for Halloween 2015.
I know that personally, I can’t wait to see this iconic music video remastered in 3D. Being an 80’s baby myself, I grew up watching, dancing and singing all Michael Jackson’s hits, especially Thriller. I’m looking forward to going to the movie theater, grabbing a bag of popcorn like Mike, and scaring a few people while I’m there, “Cause This Is Thriller, Thriller Night.”
